Elon Musk is a South African-born entrepreneur, inventor, and engineer, who is currently one of the richest people in the world. He was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa.
Musk's parents divorced when he was young, and he lived with his mother and siblings. He had an interest in computers and technology from a young age and started programming at the age of 12.After finishing high school, Musk moved to Canada to attend Queen's University. He later transferred to the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.
After college, Musk moved to California and began his first company, Zip2, which provided online business directories and maps to newspapers. He sold Zip2 to Compaq for nearly $300 million in 1999.
In 2002, Musk founded SpaceX, with the goal of making space travel more affordable and accessible. He has also been involved in the development of electric cars, co-founding Tesla Motors in 2003. In addition, he is the founder of SolarCity, which provides solar energy systems to homes and businesses.
